London/Plymouth dub duo Alpha & Omega aka Christine Woodbridge and John Sprosten, whose co-phagous career stretches back to the 80s, return with a reissue of one of their many Steppas Records standards. First issued in 1994, Voice In The Wilderness is among the roots dub duo's rarest LPs; its meditative sound channels much psychic Jing, with a flattened, delay-heavy sound assuring a steady somnogeny throughout. 'Rastafari', 'Rightful Ruler' and 'This Judgement' are tracks as blankety and well-ironed as they are punchy, their beats hitting like cudgels sprinkled by the sandman. A known joint creative singularity, Alpha & Omega were real conduits of the dub, soliciting all their own artworks and masters in house. This was their tenth record to call on the lino-cut, Christian iconographic wiles of visual artist Josanne.
