Cool Down The Heat brings a new chapter to the late Jamaican singer Junior Murvin's catalogue; drawn from 80s sessions at King Jammy's Waterhouse studio in Kingston, these dubbings - many otherwise unreleased - have been dusted off and reworked by none other than Lloyd 'King Jammy' James for 2025, adding fresh digital muscle while retaining their original fire. Murvin's falsetto tore through global soundsystems in 1976 with 'Police And Thieves', a Lee "Scratch" Perry-produced anthem later ripped raw by The Clash. But now nearly fifty years on from then, the new LP marks Murvin's third for Greensleeves, trailing Muggers In The Street (1984) and Apartheid (1986), and roping in fierce cuts like the teeth-baring 'Lion Mouth', the hard-truth-peddling 'No Bed Of Roses', and a searing version of 'Cool Out Son'. Over just ten tracks, Murvin's brought back to heavy rotation where he belongs.
