Jazz re:freshed are excited to share the debut EP 'Extinction' by emerging composer Sofia Grant, released on September 1st 2023. With its intricate vocal harmonies, lyrical storytelling and delicate studio production, 'Extinction' offers a meditation on themes of climate change, ecological collapse and our relationship with the natural world. 'Ochre' is the first single, available digitally on July 12th, which symbolises the vibrance of the natural world and the gifts it can offer when we are ready to receive them.
Rising star Sofia Grant is a vocalist, pianist, composer and arranger who has performed at iconic venues such as the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms, Alexandra Palace for Later… with Jools Holland, Ronnie Scotts and Village Underground in her career as a session musician for UK talents including Poppy Ajudha, Donna Thompson and PYJAEN. Grant is also the founder of 'Higher Ground', a jam session which aims to create a safer and more inclusive space for performers of all genders and musical backgrounds. This blossoming debut is a stunning introduction, solidifying her as one to watch in 2023.
