Delton Screechie was a vital roots vocalist during all of the 80s and in that time he hooked up with the don King Tubby in his famous studio. 'Poorman' is a new one on Fat Bird Recordings that brings plenty of clean and crisp new digital influences to his roots-laden dancehall style. The well-treated vocals muse on the life of a poor man living in Babylon. They're elastic and well annunciated while the echoing hits and bright, reflective synths and leads bring plenty to the infectious drums. The version is stripped of the vocal but is still very much a tune that will fill the floor when dropped through a big old system.
