Library Music Series 02 / Oceanography by The New Library Sound deals with the topics of marine exploration, diving and many other underwater adventures. This recording is highly influenced by Jacques Cousteau's features „The Silent World & World Without Sun“, The Adventures of Tintin and Wes Anderson's „Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou“. It pays respect to classical music albums on the subject of water, like Sven Libaek's „Inner Space“, Walt Rockman's „Under Water“ or Les Baxter's „Jewels Of The Sea".
The New Library Sound is a project of german music producer Chris Stüllenberg (cst:audio). Chris studied media technology and is working from his home studio in the Cologne region, creating audio and visual art since the year 2000.
The New Library Sound is a project intended to create imaginary soundtracks, reminiscent of the sound of the pioneering phase of electronic music and late 60's, early 70's production music – a special flavour of RETRO-FUTURISM.
Influenced by artists Sven Libaek, Piero Umiliani, Henry Mancini, Esquivel, Jean-Jacques Perrey, Air and Kraftwerk, The New Library Sound features vast usage of analogue modular synthesis and combines it with natural instrumentation (like keys, mallets, chimes, different percussions) and sampling.
Major instruments used on this record: Minimoog, KORG MS20, KORG Wavestation, EMS Synthi A, Solina Stringensemble, E-Piano, vibraphone, sampling, convolution reverb and SFX.
- Composed by Chris Stüllenberg
- Mastering by Nene Baratto at Morphine Raum, Berlin
