Great vocal cut from Dark Angel on this collaboration with U.K. roots producer Manasseh released on Roots Garden ! tuff tune
Prolific dub vocalist Linval Thompson has got a vast catalogue but is there any tune better in it than the title track from this newly reissued album originally from 1978 on Trojan Records? Sure, it's silly, it's juvenile, but for any tokers of the dope out there it is an anthem to live by. That one is worth the cover price alongs, frankly, but the rest of the tunes on this green audiophile pressing are just as natty, with heavy dubs and stoned sounds from front to back. Plenty make their praise to jah and if you put this one on it is sure to make your BBQ 100% more sunny no matter the actual weather.
41 years after its original release, it's hard to grasp just how revolutionary the New Age Steppers self-titled debut album was. The brainchild of the Slits' Ari Up and producer Adrian Sherwood, the set brought paired the cream of the post-punk scene (including the Pop Group's Mark Stewart and journalist Vivian Goldman) with a string of experienced dub-wise players to create a set that genuinely took dub and roots reggae in thrilling new directions (think alien noises, industrial sounds, experimental effects and squally guitar textures). Now available on vinyl for the first time since its original release, New Age Steppers is an album that should genuinely be in every serious music-head's collection.
Another Keety Roots killer vocal on a Sir Loggie Production. Deep and fast riddim with a taste of digital sound. Interresting stuff available on 10 inches format.
